Do not disturb

When is apple going to fix their abomination focus. I no longer can just hit a button and have my phone only allow contacts to call. If anyone else calls they can leave a message and if I want I will respond.

You could if you wanted to set it up.

  • Go to Settings>Focus>Do Not Disturb.
  • Tap on "People".
  • At the top of the screen, tap on "Allow Notifications From"
  • Tap on "Allow Calls From" and select "Contacts Only".
  • Disable "Allow Repeated Calls"
  • Go back and then remove everything under "Set a Schedule"
  • Go back to the main Focus Screen.
  • Tap on each focus other than Do Not Disturb, swipe to the bottom and hit the delete button.

Now, when you want to turn on DND, pull down the Control Center and tap on the Focus button. When you want to turn it off, do that again. It should now work exactly the same way it did before except you won't need to go into Settings to turn it on and off.

Have you verified if "Do Not Disturb" is staying on until you shut it off on the morning? You should have the moon icon next to your battery icon when it is on.

Following the steps from IdrisSeabright works and you should not be getting phone calls with it on. The last step of deleting other Focus settings is important to rule out any conflicts from a Focus other than Do Not Disturb as well as making sure there is nothing under "Set Schedule". In addition, make sure you are updated to the latest software and restart you phone.

Still does not work. I think I found a great solution. I just replaced the wife's IPhone with a Samsung. Been using for Iphones for many years as they were simple. No more jumping through hoops. Why change one button to a whole frigging paragraph to get the same function. Mine will be next. Boy do I miss Steve.
