I cannot update my expired credit card/tied into family

My husband passed away. My iphone broke so I switched to my husbands phone. I have my own apple id but it appears the phone I am using is using our family email which my husband used for his iphone id. I am not able to purchase anything such as icloud space or apple tv. Please advise next steps.

For information about how to request access to a deceased family member's Apple account data, and possibly their equipment, click here --> How to request access to a deceased family member's Apple account - Apple Support

You will either have to do the above so you can get help with the account, or leave the family group and start a new one under your ID. If children under 13 are involved this may be problematic so you are better off going with the first method.
