I ask Siri a question, she answers like normal, but then she keeps listening and the results I’m trying to read go away because she’s moved on to answering some inane thing that was not directed to her. Why is this happening? How can I turn it off? It is so inconvenient and unwelcome.

Yes PLEASE help me find a way to turn this off. It used to be much better because if I needed to ask another question, after Siri already showed the first results, I could simply touch the orb and it would begin listening again, but now it listens no matter what. This means that background noice causes Siri to answer a new, random, unwanted question. Very annoying.

I'm also finding this update to be a huge inconvenience unfortunately. So glad i've come across others having the same issue. Personally when i'm asking Siri something, i'm typically not with my phone; i'm asking it to set timers for dinner or some other action where it becomes a problem if i have to go and deliberately press the side button or tap the screen. Additionally, now having to say "that's all" (or similar) to make it stop listening in a hands-off manner, adds an unnecessary step to what is supposed to be an easier way to do things...
Really hope this update gets reversed, or we get an option to stop Siri from continuing to listen after we've asked it something!

Ending the interaction also ends what I’m reviewing. Example: I ask for weather and before i can review it, it goes away, so I have to ask Siri again. Seems to be poor quality control for user end value. Please update app and fix this issue that is a customer dissatisfier.

This is the problem! Do you not understand what these other people are saying? They don’t want SIRI to “Pause” and then keep listening. As the one person said you used to have to touch the “Orb” to get SIRI to listen to another question. As it is now, when it brings up 3 choices I tend to read the first line and where it came from at the bottom out loud. By the time I get to the second or third one SIRI hears me and goes to someplace that has nothing to do with the answer I was looking for in the first place. I have spoken and written to “Support”. They have no answer for this. Please put it back the way it was! This did not make it better or easier to use. It made it much WORSE!! FIX IT, PLEASE!!!
What if your phone is across the room and you can't hit the side button and if you tell Siri to stop and then give another command to the competition Aleka and then Siri takes over and thinks you're talking to it. That's one of many scenarios where this is a bad feature.
I'm paralyzed and literally can't touch the phone with my fingers. This recent update has completely screwed with the way I use my phone. Siri won't stop listening to me and voice control is extremely unreliable now. Anytime I make a phone call with Siri now, the voice control won't work during the phone call, So I can't use the keypad to get through automated answering systems. When will they fix this? I just want Siri to stop listening to me after I get one command and not screw with voice control.
You need to give a feature to get Siri to stop listening I pushed the button I asked for NBA score and it stays there, and if I read the scores to myself, it answers unnecessarily. Please please please remove this feature. I don’t want Siri to listen to what I’m saying after I said it once it’s very annoying. I’m starting to hate my phone.
I do realize this is not the place to ask Apple or tell Apple how to run their business, however, the hey Siri or the Siri stop or the I’m finished or whatever it is that you think you can say to Siri to stop listening only makes Siri go away. However, when Siri goes away, so does the question that you ask. If I ask Siri where the museum is in Antes, it will bring up a suggestion and then if I say stop or go away or anything else. so does the information. So all you people that think that it’s very simple to say Siri stop it doesn’t work. I find it one of the best features Apple added to iOS 17, so just because it bothers you doesn't mean it's a "bad" feature or an issue for everyone.

Agreed! This is a huge irritation for me. In the seconds after my initial request is answered, whatever sound Siri hears it will try to match to a contact, and make a call. So if, in response to Siri’s answer, I murmur under my breath “Hmm, that’s interesting”, Siri will respond “Ok, calling [some random contact]”. Its resulted in some embarrassing apologies from me to whoever she called. Naturally, she always calls someone who I absolutely do NOT want to speak with.
