My brand new iPad Air M2 randomly gets hot

Hey everyone, facing the same issue even tho air m2 has that powerful chip haven’t thought it will get this hot near the front cam, might be possible if this can be fixed with the next s/w update but gotta say apple disappointed everyone with this hot rod
Forgot to mention battery drains too fast
So you mean to say that we should not use applications on iPad and use it as it is. Really !!!!
I know not to charge mine and use it at the same time or the back gets really uncomfortable to hold. I avoid using any type of case so it can dissipate heat better. Can’t say if this is a significant issue but it definitely gets my attention.
So, you’ve restored your iPad as a new device and the problem still persists!!!
This might be absurd, but I think it’s possible that there’s an issue with your Apple ID causing overheating, Since you’ve menctioned that you could replicate the issue with multiple iPad models.
Now, it’s not normal for an iPad to overheat while using the notes app, perhaps you folks need to take it to an Apple Store or send it for replacement as the iPads can’t be repaired
I had a very similar experience. I've used my first-generation iPad Pro since 2018 and never encountered any heating issues. However, I recently bought a new iPad Air, and from day one, it became unbearably hot while using the Apple Notes app. It got so bad that I had to stop working and switch back to my older iPad.
As you mentioned, when purchasing a new model, we expect a higher standard of quality. Unfortunately, Apple has really disappointed me this time!

Additionally, I faced the same issue with battery discharging so fast!

I just set up my brand new iPad Air M2 manually as a new device since I don’t have a previous iPad and I’m not an iPhone user. My iPad is overheating with just watching a YouTube video or browsing safari.
You could also try turning off the background app refreshes from Settings > General. If it is not important, you can turn off your location services and data collection. Watch this video for more changes you can do to your iPadOS 18 settings: https://youtu.be/_EZ4I8aVNuI?si=v4_RsR7EzcrKMbC_ .
Well, I ran into that heating issue while using freenotes, so I thought it might be a problem with the app itself, swithced to goodnotes and still had the same issue. Surprisingly, the official apple notes also has this problem.
My first iPad after a long wait, and yep, what a disappointment!
*I have iPad Air 13” M2
Nice cover.
My Ipad is always updated to the latest available Ios. Now it is 17.5.1
Oh my stars. iPadOS 17.5.1. Force restart several times. Are you a bot?
Did you read my post above explaining why iPads get warm? Have you updated your apps? In my experience, 3rd party apps are a major cause of heat related issues.
My iPad Pro 11in M2 also gets very hot while I’m using the detection modes in the magnifyer app. Luckily I have a fan in my desktop 😂 It works when I connect it to my computer via USB
How did the new one end up performing? Same heat issues?
You can’t say it’s a significant issue? lol it’s pretty significant to me. My hard earned money didn’t expect this.
