Numbers viewing two sheets simultaneously

This is my question but also replying to some 150 (at least). To view two sheets in the same document at the same time. Every spreadsheet application should have this. It can be done with Adobe Illustrator. You want to see your results live, not toggle sheets. Apple: put view document in another window in the Window or View menu. Split screen will open another doc side by side but not the same doc. Basically you are sharing with yourself. I guess a work around would be each sheet in a separate document but wouldn't this be easier?

No argument here. Having more than one view of the same document at the same time can be very handy.

I know I can have iCloud Numbers open in two web pages in separate windows and view different parts of the same document at the same time and see changes happen in real time, but I do not like using the iCloud version so that is a non-starter for me.

Maybe with collaboration you can log into iCloud and see changes in realtime as you make them in the MacOS version? I am surmising. I cannot test it because I don't have a late enough MacOS version to use collaboration. It does not work in real time if it is simply saved in iCloud and viewed there while working in MacOS.

The bad news is that you can view 2 sheets simultaneously in Excel (I hear) and not Numbers. The good news is that you can add multiple tables in the same sheet in Numbers. I would rather the latter. My one sheet contains hundreds of transitions so I’d have to drag my lookup table 100s of rows down the the table. I guess it might make more sense to refer to the lookup table as a separate document in another window. I WILL be looking for this as a new feature in the future fingers crossed.

Ha ha. I discovered Numbers does not support referring cells from another document. So I guess that is out.

A reasonable usage. This is what Microsoft calls a Split function. That was typically done by grabbing a little handle bottom right and pulling the document into two independent panes. It was occasionally useful back when I worked on a PC.
