iPhone 16 Pro Max keyboard issues

two issues with my iPhone 16 pro max IOS 18:

1) keyboard lacks of responsiveness, oftentimes I have to double click when typing or It misses letters.

2) when searching for apps or contacts and using the swipe down function if starting a word with the letter «s», the search immediately disappears and spotlight shuts down.

what to do? Do I have a faulty device or is this an OS issue?

thanks and regards!

Your issues may relate to iOS 18 software glitches. For the keyboard lag, try resetting keyboard settings (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Keyboard Dictionary). The "S" search bug is likely a Spotlight indexing error—restart the device or reinstall iOS via Recovery Mode. If problems persist after updating to iOS 18.1 (released October 2024), contact Apple Support for hardware diagnostics.

Wife and I just got the iPhone 16 Max Pro a few days ago. We can't from an iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Max Pro. Not sure why we upgraded, but we definitely regret it because we're hitting the same issue right now as everyone else with this awful screen responsiveness that's affecting texting and other functionality. When using the keyboard, it's missing every other character as if it's not able to keep up with my texting... the iPhone 13 had no such issues. I upgraded to the latest iOS 18.3 hoping this was addressed but it's not. This is awful. Apple needs to get a fix for this ASAP. I see that this has been first reported 5 months ago!!!

the same with me, I was waiting for the new ios hoping that it would solve the problem but now it is even worse, the problem has not been fixed, I hope that Apple is aware that iPhone 16 pro max users have this problem. When I spoke with an agent from Apple, he told me to reset the settings first, I did that and nothing, then to delete everything via iTunes, and that didn't help either, and the last thing was that the new ios 18.01 will solve it, and that didn't work either .

Yes yes. Did notice that too. Sometimes i feel that when i type too fast the backspace won’t work or when i mistype something and i have to delete something the backspace doesn’t work quite well too. So disappointing from Apple. I hope they address this as this is one of the most important things for me to make work easier and more efficient for me.

the only downside for this when you use your iPhone mirroring, the keyboard won’t type properly using your laptop

I just upgraded for the iPhone 13 Pro Max with never having to look at the keyboard while typing. Now it seems like I have press very hard for my key presses to recognize the touch. While before I barely had to press to type - more like tap. Half the time the screen is not registering my touches. I’m on Verizon networking using a Zagg screen protector.

This is horrible experience and needs fixed because I can’t type quickly.

Sadly my friend, I’ve tried everything known to man to fix my keyboard. All the resets, all the disabling/enabling. Called apple support. There’s nothing they could do to fix the issue. I’m waiting for an update to come out at this point. Mines been doing the same thing since I got it. Apple support said that if all else fails I can take it in to the Apple Store and have one of the techs fully diagnose my phone. I have Apple warranty and care and what not, but apparently I can’t just trade my phone in for a new one either without paying next to full price for another. I’m playing the waiting game..

Yo fools. I have been having the same issue for a few months as well on iphone 13 regular edition.

It's gotten worse in the last month. I am looking at my keypad and hitting a T with pinpoint precision and it pops up a Y instead. It's doing a similar thing all over my keyboard especially with the .

I have autocorrect turned off and it is still auto correcting things.

I have numerous settings turned off and they are still working automatically.

I switched to two other keyboards one at a time. G board worked well for about 10-12 hours and then the issue came back out of nowhere.
