iPhone 16 Pro Max Screen Occasionally Displays Glitch Lines

Last weekend I bought an iPhone 16 Pro Max 512gb, and I’ve noticed that sometimes when I tap the display while it’s in Always-On mode, a few glitch lines briefly appear before disappearing. This happens randomly and not every time. So I’m concerned that the screen might be failing. What should I do about this?

I contacted Apple Support, and they said I could replace the iPhone at the store. However, I think it’s a software bug. I did some research on Reddit and found that this issue mainly happens with the Always-On Display. Since I turned off that feature, it hasn’t happened again

I have experienced this issue before 2 or 3 times very occasionally 2 weeks ago and never noticed it again until last night when I was in an indoors concert which it did it around 5 times in the span of an hour roughly… it was always when waking up the screen from “always on display” or when pressing the camera control button.

my phone was fairly hot because I had it on my hand while taking raw photos and recording in 4K. That’s what leads me to think it happened that often during that time?

Since then I’ve kept locking and unlocking my phone and the lines are not coming back…

but for the looks of it if it’s only happening when using “always on display” and in the scenario for all of us so I really hope it is a software issue that gets fixed soon and not hardware related

I see too, on the bottom of my screen mostly. I think it glitches the whole screen out but it happens so fast that I never get a good look at the whole screen. Mine looks like a defect in the screen maybe. But it only does it when switching apps or on screen wake up. Its like white lines with tiny black green and red lines running vertically. It seems like a software thing but who knows? It seems like quite a few others are having similar issues. My touch screen is sometimes unresponsive but that doesn’t happen often at all.

I bought my iPhone 16 Pro Max 512 Gb last October. Once the glitching with vertical lines started I went to see the Apple Store Genius Bar staff. The phone settings were restored and I was asked to monitor it. The glitching started again and I was advised to replace the display screen. The glitching recurred and this time the Apple technical staff replaced the logic board mid-system. The glitching problem happened again and I was given a brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max as replacement. The new replacement also glitched with vertical lines very soon thereafter.

The glitching with vertical lines happens intermittently and randomly on the screen. Each occurrence happens only for a split second which makes taking a screenshot impossible.

Can anyone please advise on what I should do next?

This happened to me too, I thought that when I got the replacement for my iPhone 16 pro max i would stop dealing with the glitching but it happened again. I am glad that I’m not alone with this problem.

When I went to the apple Genius Bar they literally told me that they didn’t know what was happening and that I should wait for an update. This never happened to me before and it is so infuriating because I didn’t pay for a phone that glitches, if I knew this before I wouldn’t have bought a new iPhone and I would have stayed with my old one.

the worse is that apple hasn’t even said anything about this problem and it is affecting a lot of users.

I just bought the regular 16 pro max 256 gb a month ago and these issues just started occurring for me around a week ago. I went through the whole rigamarole by taking it to apple to see what is up. I had the 13 pro max and it was actually the perfect iPhone. Peak iPhone in my opinion that never gave me any software issues or hardware problems besides me physically damaging the unit. I just think apple is too big of a company to be having these problems and inconveniences on these $1200 devices. My device should work properly out of the box. I reset my iPhone and I’m still having these issues. It just sucks because it started occurring after the 2 week grace period for refunds.
