Do you all face the same issues as I do? Here it is:
I’ve installed the new version of iOS(18.2) and i’m struggling with a few issues:
1- Overheating a lot overheating only when i tried to use the new Ai features like GenMoji and Playground app , I just wanted to try out these features.
2- Extremely battery drain , again related to the new Ai features.
My question is why is this happening ?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18
For me, iPhone 14 Pro Max, updated and while on a wireless charger within 5 minutes stopped charging and it noted that it would continue when it cooled down. It was extremely hot.
When on a charger, it slowly drained. I checked what was using my battery and it had a mile tracker app running in the background, and it was at 99% of the batteries usage. Not used the app for quite a while so I deleted it and it seems to be charging again now.
Has Anyone from Apple responded to this - go on Reddit some others are experiencing the same issue.
I have to restart my phone but it is still in use and hot to the touch after disabling Apple Intelligence.

I remove pictures from the message. and they disappear after a second they come again. ios 18.2 problems. and when I'm talking on the phone and someone calls in the background the phone beeps I can't do anything I can't answer. when I write an message, the sms box closes
You’re welcome. You didn’t do anything wrong. I just wanted to set the correct expectations and help you resolve the issue, that’s all. If I can help troubleshooting, I’m happy to. I’d be interested to know what Apple said, too.
They ran a diagnostic and found an issue with my phone (though they would not say what was the issue when I asked)
I have Genius bar appointment today for them to look at the phone.
I can let you know the results of that (if they tell me the whole story)

I have an iPhone 14 Pro and also just updated to 18.2. My iPhone is now extremely warm. As mine is only a 14, I believe I have limited, if any AI features??
My ESPN mobile app is now crashing constantly.
Wow, I posted in here that I am experiencing this too for 3 days (50% drain in under two hours), plus Apple Pay won't open anymore when double clicking side button, and some apps got so unresponsive I had to kill and restart them. My post was removed by Apple. WTAH? I suppose they'll remove this too.
Same here, I’ve been charging my 15 pro three or even four times a day since the update, too bad. For the first time I’m questioning about keep spending money on iPhones, it seems it doesn’t make sense anymore.
Yes I am also facing same issue, extreme battery drain (15pro). I was so surprised thinking I might not have charged my phone, just keeping the phone without doing any activity just draining the battery
my phone is on 66% battery life and on a 100% battery health. I’ve been using my phone for 2months now and after I updated my phone on ios18.2, it started draining fast. my 66% went to 63% in 2minutes. Idk…
iPhone 15 (not Pro) so 18.2 update has not loaded AI, but still battery drain greatly increased. Can't see a reason why. Can't face a trip to store for a Genius session on the run up to Christmas as it will be like bedlam so hopefully another update to fix this will be out very soon.
So, interesting update. I have a suspicion that it is the charging cable in my vehicle. Call me crazy. Tonight on a 20-min drive, I plugged it in and didn’t use anything… no maps, no music. At the end of my drive, the battery went from 48% to 44% while plugged in. I have only noticed the battery drain while plugged into this particular cable. It’s a Nomad Universal Cable:

After a week of this I caved this Miranda completely wiped my phone and restored from backup. This actually seems to have made things worse. And I am back to seeing Apple Mail and Calendar as the biggest offenders, but the crazy thing is neither of them were even installed! I have since installed them in case it helps. But probably going to have to go to Genius Bar next.
geekraver – you’re having big time issue with Calendar app. It looks like it’s trying to sync multiple events in the background. That’s just a guess, I’m no expert. You can try posting in the Calendar community and you’ll get responses from the experts.
14 here and I ended up here after Googling the same issue. I haven’t got AI. But my phone has to be charged 2x per day and it gets hot doing nearly anything for a few minutes (recording video, reading articles on safari, etc). I’ve had to shut it down several times to allow it to cool. Now it’s overheating while charging! Surely there will be a fix soon? Overheating only started after 18.2 update. Battery started with iOS 18
I replaced my battery on my iPhone 12 and it was perfect on iOS 18.1. Im talking about 7h screen on (social media, YouTube , light gaming). It was like a new iPhone. After updating to iOS 18.2 it’s so much worse. It’s even worse than 80% battery health with iOS 18.1.
