All I’m getting is a picture of the home screen no mouse no user options. What do I do?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.7

Deep press and hold the power button (TouchID) until the computer shuts down. (~10 seconds)

Reboot the computer.

If the problem persists, please post a screenshot.
