I am sure most of us senior volunteers here know that Apple will replace your iPhone battery under warranty for free if it hits 80% battery health within 1 year. I was responding to a question regarding this the other day and can no longer find any documentation on it. Did Apple update their terms or?

Nothing has changed. Seems like we have had this discussion previously. That was when I noted that it was important to include the disclaimer of "under ideal conditions" in discussions. Unfortunately "ideal conditions" are not defined.

Batteries of iPhone 14 models and earlier are designed to retain 80% of their original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles under ideal conditions. Batteries of iPhone 15 models are designed to retain 80% of their original capacity at 1000 complete charge cycles under ideal conditions.
Actual battery performance depends on a number of variables, including how iPhone is used and charged regularly. The one‑year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery, in addition to rights provided under local consumer laws. If it is out of warranty, Apple offers a battery service. Prices and terms may vary.
If you are looking for something to the effect of....."users get a free battery if the Maximum Capacity falls below 80% in the first year".....that never existed, although we see that "quote" often on the boards.
Offhand, I can't recall a post from a user complaining that his battery fell below 80% in the first year, but Apple refused to replace the part under warranty, but they may exist.
As with any part replacement under warranty, Apple always has the final say.
But what about without AppleCare +?
