It tells me to add card details and when I do it says they already exist, so when I go to remove them, it doesn't allow me as it says there is an active subscription.

If your payment method has an issue and cannot be charged, you will need to either re-verify it, or add a new one that can be charged.
You won't be allowed to remove your only payment method if there's a subscription active, so you need to either add another payment method first, or verify the one that is there already.
