How can I organize Christmas photos by year on a flash drive on iMac?

Need a step-by-step instruction on how to install several years of Christmas photos on a flash drive, so that later I can view only the year I want to view. Not seeing all the years lumped together. Something like if I want to view the 2011 Christmas photo, it would be listed on the drive as that year. Now I have 10 flash drives for each year. Would appreciate someone taking the time to spell the steps out. (I am old to be your grandfather, that's why I need simple definitions ).

… and containing folders for decades, so you don't have to look through hundreds (because I have lots of old family pictures) of folders to sort through to find the one you want.

By the way, flash drives are slow and buggy. They're fine for transferring files, but I'd never depend on them for keeping important stuff. You should get a nice Solid State hard drive. If it's only to be used on Macs, then you should format it as APFS.

Where are these photos now? Are they in the Photos app? Or are they just in a folder on your Mac?

Given that my grandfather was born in 1880, I doubt that. Many of the folks who spend a lot of time on this forum have been eligible for Medicare for a while now. So, rest assured, older people can learn how to use the technology!

Absolutely. I would never trust a flash drive for permanent storage. The price per GB of a flash drive as opposed to an SSD is much less because they're cheap, throwaway hardware. i.e., not dependable.

I keep at least two copies of everything. One on a NAS, and the other on an external SSD formatted as APFS.
