iTunes replaced My Download for another Download

I had purchased Dexter Season 1 When it came out years ago. I hadn’t seen it in awhile and last year I went to rewatch when I noticed that it was replaced with season 3. I looked on all my devices, I looked in hidden purchases, I searched all over and it was all synced and replaced to season 3. I contacted Apple support and told them, because it was purchased many years ago somehow I did not have my receipt saved in my email. I honestly didn’t think I would ever need it because the songs, movies and tv series are saved in the iTunes. I had it downloaded on one of my older Apple phones but I had to reset it 2 years ago to give away. I contacted Apple, which you would think they would have it saved on their system and no. They denied me, and said because there is no proof I purchased season 1 they wouldn’t replace it. In fact, at first the lady said they didn’t even have record that I purchased season 3, and I allowed them to connect to my device so they could see I had it on my device. Somehow, in the next few days Apple created a receipt in my account stating I purchased season 3 and when. It wasn’t there before and now it is. Why? Why Apple? Save your receipts people and or Download your media on a device because Apple will not back you up and no matter how long you’ve been a customer, they won’t replace the Download. They could have easily removed season 3 and replaced it. Who wants season 3?! Who? Because that makes no sense at all. This breaks my heart.
