Is Car Play fixed in 18.6.2

I have a 15 Pro Max that is still happily on 17.7.2. I could not care less about Apple Intelligence and iOS 18 as a whole and have never considered updating to iOS 18. Even less interested in 26. The only reason I am considering updating now is for the security updates in 18.6.2.

I however keep hearing about Car Play issues in iOS 18….even 18.6.2. My car has wired Car Play but I use an adapter to make it wireless. I’ve read about phone overheating issues, connection issues, etc.

I value a stable reliable phone where everything works more than the latest and apparently not so greatest.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

PS: Is there not a way to still update to the latest version of 17 that was also recently released? That would be first 🏆!

Installed ios 26 last night on my iPhone 15 Pro. Still can’t connect wired CarPlay to my 2019 Honda Civic (EU) - this model doesn’t have wireless CarPlay, so I can only try wired. CarPlay was working solidly before 18.6/18.6.2.

I’ve done everything I can think of: changed cables, rebooted the Honda Connect system, Reset my Network Settings on my iPhone, upgraded to IOS 26, checked all the settings in my phone for allowing CarPlay, deleted old Honda CarPlay settings/connection details, turned off WiFi, Bluetooth while connecting, turned on WiFi, Bluetooth when connecting, no VPN on etc.

Phone and CarPlay work well when connecting to another vehicle (Volvo XC60), and like I stated it worked well in my Honda, but stopped working in the Honda after a recent update.

Don’t know what else to do, wired CarPlay simply will not work.
