Iphone head phones beep when plugged in but don't play music

I have an Iphone x / regular iphone cord headphones. The headphones beep when plugged in, but do not play any sound after that.

Headphones is not an option. The weird part is that the headphones beep when plugged in, so they're getting power - but are not getting recognized by the phone

Hello,

Start here:

If your headphones don‘t work with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If no help, try this:

1) Open the Control Center

2) 3D press (or long press) on the music controls

3) Select the output option (little up-arrow with circles)

4) Select headphones

No lint or debris and the charger works fine
