Automatic login/2 step verification

I recently turned off my macbook. For some arbitrary reason, after unlocking it, it now requires me to enter my password every time it goes to sleep, after I've closed it etc. I can't turn on automatic login (greyed out), can't turn off 2 step verification when logging into my apple id. (Software is up to date.)

Is there a way to fix this?

Hello! You might need to check what settings you have under your security preferences. If you look at the image below you can see that I have my computer set to require my password immediately after it goes to sleep or starts the screen saver. If those options are greyed out, you may need to unlock your system preferences by clicking the lock icon in the bottom left hand corner of the system preferences window.
