Is the option to log into a different Apple ID still avail as part of helping a friend locate a lost or stolen device?

Last month I was able to use a friend's iPhone>Find My iPhone App>Me>log in with different Apple ID>either erase, remove from account. That option seems to have been removed from the iOS software. Has anyone notice that change or is there another way to find a lost device?
