iMac 27 display has a white frame with blue background

On restart a blue screen with white frame appears before the Apple logo then overlays everything on the screen during normal operation. Everything appears to be working but the overlay is always visible.

That's a Echo Show and it is not tethered.

Just checking.

But the problem seems to be self correcting. I've been away for a week. I think the monitor was asleep. Could something have burned in?

If it is gradually clearing up. Then I would suspect condensation, if it is cold and you had the heat off while you were away.

If the issue does not go away, or if it returns, this signifies a hardware issue, and Apple must service it. Get started by finding a nearby Apple Store, Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple, then schedule an appointment at the Genius Bar: Get Support.

If there is no Apple Store near you, then see if an Apple Authorized Service Provider is: Get Support.
