Set Bootcamp to Default to MacOS

Hello

I have a MBP with bootcamp set up to run OSX Mojave and Ubuntu.

Currently it defaults to Ubuntu (labeled "Windows" in the selection screen), but I want it to default to OSX.

I saw the previous question here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251127976, but the solution requires Windows with the Bootcamp software installed which I clearly don't have.

Is there some other way to set the default boot option?

Thanks

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.14

To the future Googler:

This thread had an option that worked for me.

https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/38572/how-do-i-set-os-x-to-boot-by-default

The accepted answer has you changing it from within OSX startup disk settings, but on my machine I only had the Mac drive show up in the options for that menu as seen here, which is why I wasn't able to use this method in the first place:

The second method, however, seems to be working: https://apple.stackexchange.com/a/73742

In case the link is broken in the future: It says to hold `ctrl` while clicking the arrow up button under your desired option, which should set the default boot option.

I'll update if anything changes. (And I remember :P)

My use case requires Mac hardware and no virtualization. So I don't think I will, thanks. You not knowing how to install Ubuntu in a Bootcamp setup is not a reason to dismiss my question out of hand. Furthermore your response is completely irrelevant to the question I asked. For the sake of us all, please stop being like this.

Please describe how to install Ubuntu using Boot Camp. I would like to know how you did that.

Why so negative to someone trying to help? I use Ubuntu daily as well as Boot Camp installed Windows. I would like your help and explanation and I'll try to use Boot Camp to install Ubuntu as well.

It was a few years ago so I'm not exactly sure how I did it although I vaguely remember installing Windows and then replacing Windows with Ubuntu. I do think that I used some information from here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro and here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MactelSupportTeam/CommunityHelpPages. In particular, this guide is the one that says it works for the 10,1: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro11-1/Saucy. TBH, I would probably just use this guide instead of trying to abuse the Bootcamp install if I were to do it again. Again, not really sure how I did it or why I did it that way.

I will note that once I did get it installed, I had quite the time getting any network drivers working. I had to install the wireless driver and all of its dependencies manually by downloading them on another computer and moving them over with a flash drive because neither wireless nor my (Thunderbolt) wired adaptor worked out of the box because whatever version I originally installed did not come with compatible drivers.

In case whatever guide you follow for your machine does not list it (11,1/Saucy does not, for example, but I believe I ended up using something from there since is in the repository list on the machine I downloaded the drivers with), you may also need this repository to get some stuff working: https://launchpad.net/~mactel-support/+archive/ubuntu/ppa

It's also worth noting that this machine is a frankenstein between a MD831LL/A and what was originally a MC976LL/A with a dead 650M so your mileage may vary.

If you are having trouble getting your install to work, let me know and I'll see if I can dig anything up.

Telling me to nuke my setup to solve a boot order issue is not really trying to help answer the original question. The forum trend of person A asking "I have setup X, how do I do Y?" and person B responding with "X is bad, you should have setup Z" while not addressing the actual question of how to do Y is super annoying. It's just plain not helpful and really just comes off as person B indirectly insulting the intelligence of person A by invalidating the issue they are having. I'm not necessarily saying that was your intention, just that it reads that way. Regardless, I appreciate that you took the time to respond and I apologize for being snippy.
