iCloud Passwords Chrome extension stops payment autofill

I recently switched to the new Apple iCloud password manager. I am using Chrome and have installed the iCloud passwords chrome extension. I aso use Google Payments to manage my credit card details.

When the iCloud password extension is active, I can no longer see my payment methods being managed by Google pay.

The only thing that brings back my payment methods is to disable to password manager. I can't find a way to get them to both work at the same time.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar issue?

I don't believe that you can enable both. What you can do is to enable "Save and fill payment methods" in the dialog you have posted. That will allow storing your payment methods in Apple Passwords instead.

The biggest source of confusion and frustration with password managers is that on a typical system, there are often several pieces of software (password managers, browsers, OS) competing to save and fill information. The fact is that password managers only work seamlessly if you choose one and then disable all of the others (including native browser password management).

That option is disabled due to iCloud Passwords. But I did go to iCloud Passwords extension settings and turned off the 2nd checkbox which is something like "Disable Chrome's auto-fill to prevent interference" and now payment methods do get filled (but of course now you get both popups -- Apple and Google -- when trying to fill in passwords). I think the only real solution is to then also delete all saved passwords from Chrome to prevent this issue.

It doesn't seem like you can store payment methods in apple passwords. Have you been able to do this? Also in the dialogue that I posted the "Save and fill payment methods" is disabled, so can't be checked or unchecked.

I have also tried to turn off the 2nd checkbox in the Apple passwords extension to Disable chromes autofill to prevent inferferance, as I have no passwords saved in Chrome. However now when I try to open the apple passwords extension, it continues to ask for the verification code to unlock the apple passwords extension over and over and never unlocks. I'm stuck in this verification loop no matter which settings I change now.
