Unable to receive mail after Mohave 10.14.6 upgrade

Hi, I've scoured the web for information regarding this problem and found many similar but not quite the same problem that I am having.

After many attempts to fix it I found one that worked but only until I turned off my Mail program or shut down the computer.

On starting up and/or reopening my Mail program again the problem would return. It would show that of the 5 accounts that I have, 2 of the accounts, my primary account and iCloud account had the little tilde icon next to them, showing them to be offline.

After opening up Accounts in Preferences it would show all five to online and enabled.

What worked for me albeit temporarily, was opening Accounts and disabling my Primary account. I'd wait for a few minutes then re-enable it and the account would begin to receive mail.

I tried the same fix on the iCloud account but didn't have any luck with that.

I'm hoping that someone might have found a permanent fix for this problem.

Thanks.

you can also try to disable the firewall to see if that is the blocking factor

and or remove the mail account and reAdd it to the mail client

I think I have found the problem, at least it is working ok so far, finger's crossed.

I recently downloaded Mohave onto a spare drive I had in my 2010 Mac Pro, I kept my older OS, Sierra on my main drive just as an insurance policy in case something went drastically wrong with Mohave. I was planing on keeping it for a while as a backup until I feel comfortable with Mohave.

I got the idea that maybe my Mail program on Sierra might be interfering with the Mail program on Mohave so I restarted in Sierra and disabled my email account.

After restarting in to Mohave again I found that everything worked like it was supposed to, I don't know why it should make a difference whether I keep my Mail program intact on Sierra seeing as I'm not using both systems at the same time but apparently it seems to.

Anyhow I'm back in business so thanks again for your help.
