I want to purchase a hub or adapter, so that I can plug the hub into my Thunderbolt 2 port on my computer

On my Mid2010 IMAC 27inch, has Thunderbolt 2 input. I want to purchase a hub or adapter, so that

I can plug the hub by way of its Thunderbolt cable, into my Thunderbolt port on my computer. I would like for the hub to have an Input for USB3. I need a USB3 port so I can plug into it using my SD card reader and be able to have higher upload speed for my photos. As you know this computer still has the older USB2 inputs. Do you have any suggestions, on how I can achieve this, or purchase a small adapter.

Also I have had my computer updated with the new SSHard Drive . MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6

Thanks

You computer will never get faster than FireWire 800 speeds out of it. You can connect a USB 3 device however because the computer only has USB 2, that is the speed any USB device will get. In short, if you are looking for quicker throughput you need a new computer.

I am not aware of such as thing as a FireWire 800 hub however if one is to be had it would be available from www.macsales.com, I'd check with them. However if it were me, I'd save my money to invest it in a new computer. Your 2010 is close to 12 years old and is living on borrowed time as it is. Items such as the HD, main logic board & the display could work okay for years or fail tomorrow. In addition, due to it's age the latest version of Mac OS it will run is already 2 generations out of date.
