Facial recognition

I purchased an iPhone 11 Pro refurbished for my daughter. She thinks it may have corrupt software because there is no option in settings to set up facial recognition or change passwords. She is running IOS 15.0.2. Any ideas why facial recognition would not be an option in her settings?

So funny thing happened, my wife had screen time settings on my daughters iCloud for her device which restricted changing the password. After removing the restrictions the facial recognition option appeared again in the settings. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Hello ~ If you can send it back for a refund. Likely the screen was replaced by someone not authorized by Apple and will never work properly. Can you post a screenshot of the the screen asking for the pin? Does it ask for Apple ID then password…if so the device is more than likely activation locked. If that is the case you will not be able to use it ….we cannot help and neither can Apple. Take a look here:

She purchased it from Amazon. Not sure if it’s an authorized apple dealer/refurbisher.

There are no authorized Apple refurbishers on selling through Amazon. They are all gray market.

In addition, if it was "refurbished" by an unauthorized party, Apple won't touch it.

I’ve updated her IOS to the latest 15.1 and still not seeing Face ID & Password in the settings menu. Also when I go to general settings >passwords it prompts me for her phone login pin and then just refreshes the same screen after the pin is entered. It’s the same recycled pin prompt each time. Does anyone know if this is a defect in the device or software? Next step will be to reset phone and reboot. Any other thoughts?
