I have an iMac vintage 2011 with Mac OSX Lion version 10.7.5. It holds a few thousand photos that I would like to back up onto a SanDisk Ultra USB 3.0 flash Drive compatible with Mac OS X v10.9 . Can I still use this?

Hi,

There's no way to know if it will work for sure but to try it. It won't hurt anything to try it. I would first erase/format the SanDisk as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) in Disk Utility. Note that this will erase anything already on the SanDisk.
