Apple ID: Change country without loosing photos

Hello,

I currently have my AppleID in Spain and want to change it to the US. I currently pay for 2TB of iCloud storage, and I want to keep that plan.

I don't care about apps, subscriptions, etc. The most important part I don't want to loose are all my pictures. Am I in risk of loosing them during this process?

And side question. I have a current year subscription that ends in August 2023. Do I have to wait for it to expire in order to start the process?

Thank you.

You will need to have to download all of the photos

This is because you cannot change country or region with an active subscription.

with the year subscription, you can ask apple support to end it early

If you cancel the iCloud subscription and get a new subscription right after you change regions, you should keep your iCloud photos. As suggested above, make sure you download all the pictures so you have a backup.
