I’m using an old AppleTV (1080p version) for streaming music only, ran into a problem where it stopped playing music and so I connected it to a TV. The AppleTV showed no picture, so I connected it to my computer and did a restore, still no picture. The light is on solid (no flashing) and there’s no picture. Any ideas?

Try using a different HDMi cable and another port on TV. I assume the restore went through successfully with no error reported? If the model is a 3rd gen (as stated in your profile) then be aware that it is now almost 11 years old and also classified as obsolete so if the issue persists there may be something deeper that may not be able to be resolved. However, you can still try contacting Apple and see if they can offer any further support.

Yes, the restore went through correctly with no error reported and I’m somewhat limited in terms of the HDMI cable which is embedded in a wall. Yes, it’s an older unit and I bought another one on ebay. The reason I like the older AppleTVs is that they have the optical out port and I’m only using this one to stream music (basically like an airport express). In any case, thanks again for the thoughts.
To be honest I don't recommend people to buy the older models because they are no longer supported and it's more likely that issues will come up given the age. Given the use case I'm surprised you didn't just go with the Airport, the Apple TV was never really designed for that purpose and reports were always hit or miss with that.
Anyway, there may not be anything you can do but it doesn't hurt to contact Apple. Best of luck.
Understood re the downsides of the older model here and, if I have any issues, I’ll go with a Belkin SoundForm. It looks good as well, but had a number of reported usability/signal drop off issues, so I held off. Thanks again
