Someone in the forum told me that an 'insider' in either FB or Apple told them to open up the Messenger app. And, while that was open to then login to my Facebook app...and it worked!!! I'd love to know if it works for you.

That is the current workaround until Meta provides an update to fix the problem with Facebook. They have a poor track record when it comes to bug fixes especially those found on the iPad.

Do you use VPN? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN.

But keep in mind that social networking apps hate VPN, and frequently will block VPN connections. SnapChat in particular will ban you for 3 months for using VPN, and permanently if you do it again.

I got a new iphone today. I was able to get into Messenger today, but I can't access the Facebook app. It is almost blacked out on the screen. I can't call it up at all. I can't delete it. I guess I will try powering down and back up again.

Instead try deleting the app and reinstalling.

Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN. Any time you upgrade hardware you should any network apps and reinstall them so they can configure to the new networking.

However there have been many reports (3 pages in this thread alone) of problems with Facebook, which is a very buggy app,

Hello all! I was able to restore my Facebook after the latest update and getting a new phone. I opened Messenger as others have said here, but that didn't help.

My facebook icon was dark and non-responsive. I pressed and held it, and a menu came up. I chose to give downloading top priority. After about three minutes, it was there! So try this!

Facebook just had another update today to go along with the 12 they have had in the last month. They have also had the beta version of iOS 18 for 3 months to make sure their app will work correctly. If you are experiencing any problems with the Facebook app, then contact them using their Help Center.

The only thing that you can do is delete/reinstall or restart your device, other than that, it will be Facebook that will have to resolve any problems.
