Vertical Lines on my iPhone 16 Pro Max display

I have been experiencing some weird glitches on the display: for a fraction of a second, I can see vertical line appearing on the screen which looks a bit like interference that is caused by a magnetic field. This happens 2-3 times a day. I thought it may have been the issue with the hardware so I exchanged my iPhone 16 pro max but I have been seeing the same on the new phone. Is it possible that the hardware on both phones is botched or is it something iOS related?

Walked in at the Apple Store on 57th street 5th Ave today. Explained the issue and had my screen replaced within 1 hour. They confirmed this is a hardware problem with the display.

suggest you take it to an apple store.

I have experienced this issue before 2 or 3 times very occasionally 2 weeks ago and never noticed it again until last night when I was in an indoors concert which it did it around 5 times in the span of an hour roughly… it was always when waking up the screen from “always on display” or when pressing the camera control button.

my phone was fairly hot because I had it on my hand while taking raw photos and recording in 4K. That’s what leads me to think it happened that often during that time?

Since then I’ve kept locking and unlocking my phone and the lines are not coming back…

but for the looks of it if it’s only happening when using “always on display” and in the same scenario for all of us so I really hope it is a software issue that gets fixed soon and not hardware related

I have to say that, even though I saw the lines again—this time only white, I have not seen them again in a while. This is after the iOS 18.2 update and doing a hard reboot on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This is also while doing the same things I always do where I’ve seen them before. I’m not offering hope, just stating my observation. It may very well be a software issue considering the change of the color, pattern, speed and number of occasions this has happened before. I cannot say it is resolved as yet, but I have not seen the vertical lines in about a week.

I wanted to provide an update regarding my phone. Apple replaced it on October 19 due to persistent vertical lines that wouldn’t disappear. Since then, I haven’t experienced the issue. It seems the problem might be limited to certain devices. Thankfully, it’s been over two months now, and everything has been working perfectly. I’m hopeful the issue won’t reappear.

I must say, for all those concerned, it has been a while since seeing the lines now. In fact, I’ve only seen them again once just after posting the last time and that was a week ago. That occurred after asking Siri a question while the light ring around the edge of the screen comes on.

I’m keeping this phone. It makes no senses to replace it to me. Especially if another new one might have the same issue. So I’ll use it until it is recalled or becomes damaged somehow. The vertical lines don’t interfere with anything I do on the phone. The only thing it could be an issue with is when taking screenshots.

The only thing I did was get all the updates to now and conduct a hard reset. That happens by pushing the volume up, then volume down, then holding the sleep/silence button over ten seconds until you see the Apple logo. I do this each week for general purpose.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max. I am getting split second vertical lines across my display too! Apple replaced the display on my phone after saying the lower part of the screen had a dead zone, which is what was causing the vertical lines to appear. However, even with the new display, I am experiencing the same issue, frustrating!! When you pay this much for a phone, you expect everything to work seamlessly without such issues.

I’m experiencing the same issue with two vertical lines on my screen. It started last night when I plugged in my phone to charge, took a shower, and returned to find two vertical white lines had appeared. I tried restarting the phone by pressing and releasing the volume up and down buttons, then holding the side button until the Apple logo appeared, but that didn’t resolve the issue. I reached out to Apple Support via Chat and followed the same steps as instructed, but the technician eventually advised that an appointment with Apple would be necessary. I’ve only had the phone for about two weeks. This is the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Attaching screen:

So glad I’m not the only one. I got my phone in Oct. Vertical lines happened 2 days in. Very random; some days only once, others 5 times, and I can go days without any. Started to happen more often in Novemeber/Dec. Apple switched the screen. I tried a fresh start. Still no change. Apple exchanged my phone. Had the new phone for two weeks and all was well until 3 days ago when it started again.
