Mail App deleted emails

My iPad Mail App just deleted/erased the majority of my Inbox emails!?

I regularly ’block’ select maybe 5-10 emails then delete them. Just went through the same process just now, and the Inbox scrolled up rapidly with all emails disappearing.

In a panic I forced Mail closed, but on opening again there are NO emails from today back to 2014!

they haven’t jumped to Trash or any other Folders.

Checked my provider (BT) Webmail, and it’s the same there.

There’s literally years of personal emails missing now.

Where are my emails, and how can I recover them?

If, when viewed using a web-browser, the email messages are no longer visible in your BT Mailbox - then the messages have been deleted from the server itself. Unless BT can assist with recovery of recently deleted email messages, they’re gone.

To be absolutely certain, sign-in to BT from any computer using a web-browser:

https://home.bt.com/login/loginform?TARGET=$SM$https%3A%2F%2Fsignin1.bt.com%2Fbtmail%2Fsecure%2Femaillogin

When you’ve accessed your mail with a browser, check your inbox, archive, trash and other folders. Be aware that bulk deletions may immediately disappear from the source folder - but take many minutes (or longer) to appear in the trash folder. The same can be said for other bulk moves.

Perhaps exercise patience - and check again in a few hours.
