recently the ability to change the font Color in MS Word and Excel stopped.

recently the ability to change the font Color in MS Word and Excel stopped. The drop down menu doesn’t drop down and the only Color available is red. When letters are typed they are in black but if the Color button is selected which is set to red it changes to red but no other colours available. Size and font etc appear to be ok.

any ideas what has happened and how to repair it?

Problem solved.

I updated the version to the latest. As the machine was a family members, I was unaware that the Office suite had never been updated. Apparently the OS had been updated and this led to an incompatibility issue. The OS update had not been told to me at the time of diagnosis.

It was Word 14.51, since updated.

Thanks all for your help.
