Apple Music replaced songs in local library on Mac

Actually, I think this might have happened with iTunes, prior to the upgrade to Apple Music. But I'm noticing it more now.

Songs that I had ripped into my local library on my Mac have been replaced with versions that are updated/remastered. This is unacceptable because rare and older versions are now completely gone. I didn't ask for this to happen. In some cases I no longer have the CD's they were ripped from, or the originally mastered versions are no longer available.

Has anyone else seen similar behavior?

Hi,

Apple music/ iTunes Match does not automatically change music on your hard drive. You need to actively remove original then redownload matched version.. The matched version will be on your other devices.

This is not a backup service and Apple recommends that you maintain a backup of your music.

Did yo make a backup of your music on an external drive?
