When click the Facebook app it not open

That is the current workaround until Meta provides an update to fix the problem with Facebook. They have a poor track record when it comes to bug fixes especially those found on the iPad.
I got a new iphone today. I was able to get into Messenger today, but I can't access the Facebook app. It is almost blacked out on the screen. I can't call it up at all. I can't delete it. I guess I will try powering down and back up again.
Brand new Ipad10. Facebook downloaded just fine. But it will not accept my password for the app. It signs me in just fine on the website. But the app keeps saying "try again." I've deleted it from the tablet and reinstalled; presumably the app store has the latest update. But nope. Have rebooted the Ipad. Nope.
Pain in the neck to always have to go to the browser. Anyone else having this particular problem?
the fix about Messenger and then FB did not work. My problem is not in downloading it. The icon sits there nice and bright. My problem is that it refuses to take my password. Messenger takes its password. Facebook app doesn't.
Well, if FB doesn't want me having eyes on its ads, I guess that's their problem.
Yes, I did. Three times. Fully deleted. Waited till into Messenger before downloading FB. Same result. Oddly, I get notifications on Facebook--the ones I can sign into--that ask if I approve a sign in. I always say yes. Makes no difference. These may be related to the fact that I CAN sign in to the Edge FB page.
I did all these multiple times but I’m still having the Facebook problems others report meaning, I can only see a limited number of posts on my feed before I see a message telling me sorry….and reload. I’m about to quit FB all together

on an iPhone 11 and since I went to iOS 18 it’s broken my phone basically with Apple support telling me my phone is now out of warranty.
camera app no longer works
flashlight app not working and now Facebook when I go onto marketplace after seeing a few items it freezes
really not happy with iOS 18-
the forced attempt to get me to buy a new Apple phone is doing more to get me to get out of the Apple ecosystem

Facebook's apps on iOS have been working erratically for about two years.
Oh bless you, bless you, bless you! I have tried what feels like a 100+ “suggestions” to get Facebook and Instagram to load onto new iPhone 16 pro max! NOTHING worked until I tried YOUR suggestion! Thank you SO much!

Nothing Apple can do about that. You will have to ask Meta if they will give you access to your account. It is their service and their choice.
